Basically just know your computer. Just because you are doing databases does not mean you will not have to work on the inside of the computer, or with different operating systems. From my experience once you have a job working with computers everyone will think that you know absolutely everything about them. From Microsoft help, to graphic designing which have nothing to do with your job. Know many different programs from head to toe Have a basic understanding of all operating systems Be very good and quick with math Know at least a small bit about other programs like Photoshop and stuff, you will get questioned Know how to work the internet Know how to program in whatever language you will be using Also I recommend learning Python, its a very easy language, and you can learn it for free online
