How to install a surveillance cam?

A frind of mine is trying to install a Phillips S/C 4700/37 web cam....?

  • onto her computer which has Windows 2000 pro. Her computer is a Compaq. I would like to be able to help her but am not sure how. When she tries to install the software for the cam after getting through the first few steps and is ready to install the install wizard flashs that another instance is running. Does anyone have an idea what this means and if the problem is with the windows 2000 pro, what we need to do to fix the problem and get her web cam up and running?

  • Answer:

Alright, typically when you affix a new hardware to your comp, the OS(Window XP atleast if not 2000) detects the same and tries to install a built-in temporary driver of its own and it gives a message on your right-bottom of your screen. - After a while it tells that its done with the installation and that the cam is ready for use. -After a few seconds ,look into the explorer where there will be a new drive which will have a cam icon and you can take pics and save them in your pictures folder by right clicking on them. -Now, if nothing happens then try restarting the comp without removing the cam. -If nothing works, then try installing the software. -If the same problem erupts again, then try downloading the new version of the driver from the company website.
