Is it possible to convert YPbPr output to Coaxial output?

When exporting InDesign, under Output, should I choose "Convert to Destination" - or "No Color Conversion?

  • I have a Mac and work in Adobe CS3, using RGB color. Naturally, I want, but don't always get, accurate color print-outs. Wouldn't selecting "convert to destination" (when exporting to PDF) automatically convert the colors to the output device's color space? The default is "No color conversion".

  • Answer:

If you are working with a document that will end up as a printed document, you should be working in CMYK. Using RGB causes this difference in appearance that you are seeing. You can convert the color space to CMYK when exporting to PDF, but the best idea is to convert your colors and images to CMYK from the start. (You can see this in effect if you convert an image from RGB to CMYK in Photoshop, as the image will typically become muted once converted, which you can fix by altering the Curves: CTRL-M.)
