Can I make money by making a website?

  • Can I make money by making a website? I was thinking I could charge people maybe a little bit of money from doing this would that be good? I was also thinking could I make a website that people can sell there stuff on it and charge them a little bit for joining etc? I know that you might think I'm trying to copy ebay but I'm not I want to make it different I don't want to go into compition with them because I would lose hands down. But would it be good to make a site where people can sell their stuff etc? Thanks for all the helpful advice and information.

    If you want to make real easy money on a website use google adsense. You can make a decent amount if you get a lot of traffic to your site. Every time someone clicks your ad you make money. I dont think a site where people can sell stuff is a good idea because there are already free sites like kijiji or ebay that are already super popular.

I don't think there is anything wrong with copying eBay. It is a successful model that works. The trick is to do it better. Try to come up with your own version of it. It should have a different spin/ branding. If you can do that then it doesn't matter if it is the same model. People will come to you because its branding appeals to them more than eBay's. Also, yes you would lose in a fight with eBay however if you can find a niche market, even if ebay is in that market, you can cater to a specific group and make good money.

Yeah you can make money, for that you have to create a website and you have to buy the domain and some space from vendors and you have to pay for them.Most of all first you have to decide in which language you want to develop your site. happy coding :)
