What does a developer do?

What is the difference b/w web designer and front-end developer?Is front-end web developer ,a s/w engg?

• should a web designer know front end coding/scripts or should a front end developer know PSD design or both are entirely different?Can we call a front-end web developer (who know HTML,CSS,Java script,Jquery,Ajax) as s/w engg?

  Let me start off with this, a front end developer is the woman that code the stuff between the client and the back end(database...). Most of the back end stuff is handle by the sys admin or the db admin or the net admin. The client side programmer is responsible of the visual part of a web application. Software engineering is the making of a software. The maker of the software is not the software engineer, no, it is the architect, the manager, the developer, the QA people, the executives...all these mother******* are software engineers. No software will be made without all of them, it is a team effort. Even if a woman can build a software all by herself, she still have to endorse all the roles of each key pieces in software development. So yes, a web designer and a front end developer are software engineers.
