Is it possible to compile Swift for OS X 10.5?

  • So to create my own OS i need to know C\C++ and Assembly language. So ok what will be my extension for my OS executable file? Or how it wikll work? In what kind of a file i should compile my code? Wich programms should i use? How i can make my OS to read jpg,gif, etc files? How i make my OS to conect through internet? How do i boot it for the first time? Do i have to make my own DOS for this? Can i skip the DOS creation? Some questions wich i want some answers ... If someone knows then just share your information with us! You can even expose your think!

    dude.....you need to slow way down. If your not even sure where to start, you have a long path ahead. I suggest you start with LFS (Linux From Scratch) http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/ Get the latest stable kernel from there and build upon it, this will teach you the basics of building an OS, and there are forums & other resources available there. To write your own kernel, and GUI enviorment from scratch is an incredibly labor intensive proposition, It could take you years to write and debug and come up with anything usable... Judging by your questions you are not close to ready to create your own operating system. I'd recommend starting with something a bit smaller. If you're desperate to play with operating systems, download a Linux distribution and edit the source files. Creating an operating system from scratch isn't easy stuff.

If I exposed my think here, Y/A would delete my answer very quickly! ;-) And, instead of making your own OS, why not use Linux and put enhancements on that? Even if you knew what you are doing, writing a OS from scratch, would take men-years of programming.
