Why did Microsoft make it possible to delete the 'recycle-bin' ?
-
You don't just 'make it possible' without having a reason, so I'd like to know as many reasons out there to why Microsoft perhaps decided to allow users to let their curiousity and boredom get the better of them, to fulfil their sole goal in life - to delete the recycle bin. I can't see why they didn't make it impossible, i mean selecting it and then pressing the del/back space key ought not to show u a pop up box that reads 'are you SURE you want to delete the recycle bin ?' instead a pop up box with a n 'x' in a bubble saying 'you cannot delete the recycle bin !' should appear.

Answer:
You can't delete the recycle bin. You can delete the icon for the recycle bin from your desktop, but you cannot delete the application itself. Some people just want a tidier desktop.

They didn't. They only made it possible to delete the icon.

Some people don't like it on their desktop.

You can delete the recycle bin from the dashboard, a new feature from Windows Vista, however, you can not completly delete it from your computer. When you try to delete it, if you search your computer you will still find it. In Add/Remove Programs, it does not give you the ability to delete it from your computer all together. The recycle bin ennoys me on the dashboard, but I need it because I frequently delete programs that I don't use to keep myself clear of virus's. :-D

You have not deleted the recycle bin, you've simply deleted the icon - the reason being that some people want to remove the icon from their desktop. They've given you a choice. You can always get it back however you did'nt mentio which OS your using, so can't help.

because some people prefer to by-pass the bin and just perm delete things so why would they want the icon on there desktop. It is possible to remove the attribute so that you can't delete it but they left that in your hands

I personally do not like having to delete things twice. Window's really does not delete items right away so there is always a window of time where you have a good chance of recovering anything deleted by accident.

...because some people do want to get rid of their recycle bin perhaps? Microsoft would get a lot of stick for dictating to people what they can and cannot delete.
