How do i change the font to black and to make the navigation bar skinny?

I want my font to be tahoma and the text to be black, and the make the navigation bar skinny, meaning, without any blue above or below the words. but i don't want there to be a big blank spot above the navigation bar either. i want it skinny, tahoma, and black. anyone have the code, know where to get it, or can help me in any way?
