How can I retrieve an old email?

• I emailed a very important document to a lawyer over a year ago. I need to prove that I did this, however, I don't know how. I checked the Outlook Express box on my computer in the sent emails and it isn't in there anymore. Is there a way to retrieve the email (proving when it was sent) from my computer a different way? Also, I can pull up the document with the email address showing, but don't know how to prove when it was emailed (it doesn't show a date). I did look at the statistics for the file which reveals when the document was created, modified, and accessed - but not when it was emailed. Is there any way of finding this information on my computer? Thanks for any advice you may be able to give as this important document deals with the custody of my son.

  I'd say that since this is important, get a person who is computer savvy to retrieve your e-mail. There are ways in which even deleted things can be retrieved, but they require high professional abilities. Another suggestion would be to ask the geeks in the local high school to help you, you'll find they are unusually well-equipped. I suggest you get a professional to do this job for you. Go to a detective agency, if you have no other option, they might have a Tech specialist. Check the sent items list carefully. Did you delete it? If yes, you need professional help. If no, run a search on your computer to find the e-mail using Start->search. If you did not delete, did you use web based email( such as Google, Yahoo!, Hotmail) to send it. In that case, log into that account and check the sent items. If you didn't delete the email, it should be there, unless you re-formatted your computer in between.
