How can i build a custom remote control?

ok so i wanna build a device, a remote control that has the on and off function which runs on 9V battery(the rectangle kind) which will turn off a radio that also uses 9v battery and i wanna khow any1 has any electronics experiance that can help me build a small remote controll to turn on and off my radio and i also wanted to khow if i can use a univeral remote controll and add reciver or something to the battery..?

if u know how to build a cricuit i can explain you .!!!! but if u dont know how to make a circuit... u r in wrong way ... u probably need to learn circuit making... or better yu buy a remote from a shop ;-)
