How can I open files with the extension .ef?

Mac OS Leopard:-Save files using TextEdit in .java extension?

  • hi guys How do I save files in .java extension in leopard's textedit. every time go to files>save as and modify the file name with an extension .java, and the moment I hit the save button I get a pop up window displaying that I can't save it in .java extension. I do get a 3 options to choose 1, save file in both extensions (Helloworld.java.rtf). 2, save file only in .rtf extension. 3., cancel. And for instance if I try modifying the file after I've saved it in .rtf extension to .java(via get info). Leopard automatically modifies the content of the file and screws my program. Thanks for reading it and also helping(if you can)

  • Answer:

Open TextEdit, Click on TextEdit on the top toolbar, choose preferences: Choose Open and Save tab Choose "Add .txt extension to plain text file" under the When Saving a file section. Under Plain Text file Encoding, choose Univode (utf-8) next to Saving files. Then when you open a file you need to goto "format" and choose Make Text. then when you save you can specify .java.
