How to start programming a game in java?

A question about the java programming language?

• I am learning programing and eventually I want to start programming games, right know I'm using C# but with C you need XNA to do some game programming and my question is: does Java need any 'add on' to do game programming? and does it have any add ons for anything (and for what)? I just started C# and know basic stuff like integers and variables and loops, ect, ect so it won't be too much of a sacrifice to change to Java, and from what I see, there pretty similar.   Your question was understandable don't worry, and to answer it: "No, you don't need any extensions/add-ons (which are called libraries by the way)". You see, Java has all the things you need to write a game built into the language. Stock Java, J2ME, Android Java, etc, all have the necessary libraries and classes to draw and manipulate images, sounds, backgrounds, etc in such fashion that you can make a game out of it, and it's not even that hard actually. Also, knowing C# will definitely help you learn Java. I'm trying to learn C# at the moment (being an intermediate Java programmer) and the similarities are endless, which definitely helps me. I advise you to look up some tutorials on YouTube since this can be very useful, but the most useful thing to do is to occasionally look at source codes and try to figure out what they do. I wish you good luck on this long and tedious, but still fun quest to learn the art of game programming!
