What game making program should we use?

What program does the psp game developer use to make their games for the psp?

• As in... I use Game Maker software to make windows games (link: www.gmc.yoyogames.com) but I wan to try making psp games in eboot or iso or cso format. Go to the link and search for WINDOWSXD. It's a game I made last month. I would like that to be used in psp as a game but when I convert it to iso format, it'll not start. I am experienced in gamemaker language and some java C++... I hope that you'll give me such good answers like: a) <program name> <link> b) forum where they create these games except adventure creator(it is BAD) Thanks in advance!!

  My understanding is that the play stations have two sets of software available for them, though I am not a developer. There is Sony's proprietary game development tools, which is where they really expect to make money, and there is there Linux Ports, which are frankly intended for them to be able to claim tax credits in the European Markets (where they can sell computers more cheaply than game machines). The machines Sony has sold Linux for are the Play Stations 2 and 3. And in fact the Play Station 3's official linux (if there is such a thing, has Yellow Dog, a venerable Linux distributor, behind it. There have been home brew development tools for the PSP but Sony really doesn't like this. My understanding -- however my source I should warn you doesn't have much more reason to know than I do -- is that while there are a couple of scripting packages for the Sony's OSes, the basic compiler which everyone uses is GCC. As a heavy Open Source user myself, I can understand how they can include a "free" package in a development package generally sold to corporations for a large chunk of money plus royalties on the games sold. GCC is free as in Freedom: to comply with the material in the copyright (copyleft) you must simply make the source code available to people you distribute it to at no charge, with the understanding they may do with it as they please. There is no such agreement about binaries except that you distribute the source code. It is not free as in beer. Since the Play Station 2 they have been suggesting that individuals familiar with the Linux (and presumably UNIX) operating systems are more likely to get jobs with those who develop for them. This has been one of the points they have made to sell their Linux packages. They tend to discourage Home Brew development for the PSP. Nevertheless, I have a page on Home Brew development for the PSP listed in sources. If you want to use professional tools, and you don't have a large trust fund, I suggest you get a job at a professional corporation.
