How do I change the date to the correct one?

Are there more than one lace to change a creation date on a computer?

  • Say the hardrive was taken by forensics, they say I falsified a letter, said I wrote it last night instead of last year. I say no I wrote it last year, they say no you changed the creation date. Where would that even be located, on my hard drive? A simple matter? I may have dated the letter a different date, but to change a creation date, isn't that a programming thing?

  • Answer:

a file's creation date is dependant on whatever time and date you set on your system. it can also be *easily changed* ... if in windows: double click on the 'time' found in the toolbar to bring up the calendar if in ms-dos: type this command, and press [enter] -> date these 'rules' to change the date/time would also apply to networked computers (although controlled by the respective owners), as well as other electronics (ie. vcr, camcorder, etc) note that this leaves potential for some ridiculous activity, such as the creation of files 'in the future' . . . be careful!
