Answer:
First of all keep in mind that almost all Programming Jobs require you to have a Bachelors Degree at the minimum and some years of experience. I started out with Visual Basic and it is a great language. However if you want to get professional in programming you may want to start with Java because you will learn everything from scratch. I learned Java after Visual Basic and wish I had done it the other way around. Then you also want to learn C# which I think is the hardest of all because its very object oriented but its where the Money is. C# programmers make more than others (at least that is what my Professor told me). After you learned the basics of a language - use it. Write your own programs, integrate Databases, etc. sign up to Forums for each language and get help there when you get stuck. You also want to learn some SQL and ASP.Net to me more marketable. But keep in mind that 99% of the programming jobs I seen needed at least a Bachelors Degree +2-5 years of experience.

I would recommend C++ (object oriented programming)

Starting with Basic, or Visual Basic as others have talked about, is a good plan - it'll give you the ground work to understand how computer programs are constructed and how they work. The current 'favourite' for programming seems to be Java, so you'll probably want to move onto that as soon as you've got the hang of Basic/Visual Basic. http://visualbasic.about.com is a good place to start learning Visual Basic and http://www.javaworld.com is a good place to start learning Java. Good luck and I hope you enjoy it :)

I would recommend to start in Pascal(Delphi), because it's very simple. And then when you know basics of programming go to C or Cpp, you don't need anything else. But you have to know that you need 5+ years to be an experienced user, not expert! And it's very hard to get a job at Microsoft or IBM. So you better think is it worth every day sitting and programming, or try something else and make programming your hobby.

Before learning programming language better know the concepts of development. Try to learn object oriented concepts - most of the current popular programming languages like JAVA, all .Net languages depend on OOPS concepts. Once you master object oriented concepts any language is a cake walk.. for more information on programming languages refer to the link below.. http://markthispage.blogspot.com/search/label/Programming

I would suggest either Java or VB (as opposed to C). Many people say Java is difficult but that is not true, the language is easy to learn and use. You have to work on as many projects as you can to gain experience, its the only way.
