Problem with running MSN?

When I get booted on Yahoo Messenger, is it an autoboot program...How can I fix this problem?

  • I recently reformatted my pc, thinking I could correct my problem. Each & ever time I am signed into my Yahoo Messenger OR in a chatroom & I recieve a PM, I get booted out of the room & my messenger shuts down & restarts. I have changed names, changed my password, re-installed Yahoo 4 times, re-installed Explorer & even went to the extreme to reformat my machine. It was working at the place I had the work done, but when I brought it home, it started to act up the same night. I am running "windows 2000". It is very frustrating, as I feel I have tried everything to correct this problem...... At the same time, I can by signed into my MSN Messenger with without a single problem. So you can see how I figured by re-formatting, it would solve this mysterious problem, but to no avail----> I still have it. The only thing left to do is re-install the drivers for my wireless modem, OR have Bell re-boot my modem. I am lost with this & I sure hope someone out there will be able to help me..ty

You are not being *booted* per say, but I do believe the newest variant of Yahoo! Messenger is better run on Microsoft Windows XP. Have you considered upgrading your operating system. A part of the problem could be that, and or how much available RAM you have. More information is needed to help you resolve this problem.

You might have problems due to the Firewall or the OS itself. Please make sure that the Windows Firewall (or any other firewall does not block Yahoo Messenger). Also try to verify the proxy settings. Go to Yahoo Messenger>Messenger>Preferences>Connecti… Depending upon your network set the correction connection setting. Have you tried Yahoo Messenger on Windows XP? It works fine on XP, I don't know whether there are specific issues on Windows 2000. If this doesn't work, try installing an older version of the Yahoo messenger software (version 6).
