Compressing a .mov file?

HD video file (.MOV) emergency!?

  • Hello, This is an emergency! I am trying to edit MOV files on sony vegas, recorded from an HD camcorder and imported through a mac,on a PC. I only hear audio but no video when i try to play the file.The file's codec is 'icod' apparently. I NEED A WAY to make this work! ANYTHING! i've tried converting the file to a standard avi or mp4 file, but i cant find the right video converter that will do it! Remember, the video was recorded using an HD camera, and has an MOV extension. The file worked on a mac, I am trying to access/edit/use it on a PC. Thanks in advance, for saving my life

As I know, sony vegas supports mp4(H.264/AVC video codec, AAC audio codec) or MPEG2 video files well, so you need to use a right software to convert your HD mov video files to the HD mp4 or mpeg2 video files for sony vegas. Sony Vegas supported WMV, MPG, MP4 format files. Personally, I use AVS video converter. Its a commercial solution and cost about $39 US dollars, but its been well worth it. And, you can convert the video to all types of formats and not just to MOV.

ICOD is the fourcc designation for Apple's HD Intermediate CoDec (AIC). Unfortunately, there is no AIC implementation for the PC. It will have to be downconverted on a Mac. I have heard SuperDC can do this (my link) but I'm suspicious.
