What is the problem with my PSP?

My PSP won't charge, what might be the problem?

• Battery, unit, or charger? i am only using a USB Charger Adapter and not a real charger coz i lost it, it can charge my battery before but only if i am not using it. My battery is okay, i think. It still has some energy in it, which allow me to turn it on for as whi;e, but of course shuts down after a few secs. Also, about the Adapter, I guess it is too weak. My problem is now, i cant see an orange light. I assumed that maybe its the light's problem but then it really hasnt charged at all. What do i do? Are there any alternatives to make mah psp charge, like connect it on a computer, use it while the batt is out, etc... i need some ideas, i NEED to play Tactics Ogre, haha.   you've brainstormed quite a few potential problems in that first sentence. it could be the battery,maybe the charger, or the unit altogether. now i've just purchased a psp (first time owner),so i'm no expert on these matters but i'll offer my opinion anyway, lol : 1. charger : do you have an ac power cord? i know they say you can also charge with the usb adapter but it SEEMS there's a CHARGING problem considering everything you've mentioned in your question. so you may want to change your charging TECHNIQUE.(just for troubleshooting purposes). in the instructions, you're told not to use damaged, wet, or broken cords...period. so consider maybe purchasing an AC POWER CORD. 2. battery: as for battery life, i'm not sure how long it lasts. but the manual says age, how often it's used, and how it's stored can all have a bearing on how long it can lasts. i charge mine for 2hrs and 20 min. you're told to store it in a cool dry place; the idea is to protect it from moisture and temperature extremes.(too cold or too hot) and if you drop it, you're really shortening it's life span! buy another battery pack and see if that makes a difference. you'll have to replace it in time anyway. 3. unit: it may be time to buy a new system. hopefully you have your receipt in case the system was defective.you can buy an extended 1yr replacement plan (which only costs like $3.00)that gives you the benefit of being able to return the item and get your money back or replace it with another one even after the unit's manufacturer's warranty expires. again, these are just theories, but i hope that i was able to be of SOME help. i feel for you. it's terrible when you're broke and have a gadget that requires so many things to maintain it. you'll always need some type of accessory when you have a psp. hopefully you get everything you need so that you can play tactics ogre!
