Watching downloaded videos on ipad2 via PC transfer?

• So i'm thinking about getting an ipad2 in order to watch the videos i have on my PC when i'm out an about, at work etc. question is has anyone experience movies that you transfer from your PC to the ipad not working? either using the usb or wi-fi (if ipad has that function). i was curious because i got a new android phone galaxy s2 for that purpose but been having trouble transferring videos and watching it on the phone, mainly because after the transfer when i try to watch the video it would always say unable to play, but sometime it works and sometime it doesn't. i mess around with the file type and so on and nothing works basically unless the phone DECIDES it wants to work. so with the ipad2 will ALL video files work without problem as long as its an mp4?
