Why does my psp does not turn on and the battery works?

Why CANT i charge my battery THROUGH my psp anymore??

• i own the normal psp(fat) i have two problems. problem #1 - whenever i try to plug in my psp to charge via ac adapter, or the one i plug into the wall, it wont charge the battery. the orange light never comes on, and for some reason i can no longer charge my psp. so i bought a seperate charger where you put the battery in it charges it outside the psp. that works. so i bought another battery for road trips. problem #2 - i bought the 3.6v 2200mAH gold one or whatever. i get home, i charge it via the new separate charger i have so i can get ready to use it. about 1-2 hours later i take it out and place it in my psp to see if it works. it doesnt. my psp wont even turn on. i figured it was the wrong type of battery. but from what i hear, it doesnt matter what battery you have. ALL batteries should be compatible with the PSP(fat). so why the heck wont this new freakin battery work. ALSO, is it possible (if the new battery i got ISNT the right one) to make the new battery compatible with my psp??? by crackin the thing open, and disabling something in the chip? idk. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APRETIATED

  sony made it this way say they can make more money by making you by more of their accessories or a new psp DUH!
