Blackberry pearl 8100 problems please help?

I just recieved my blackberry pearl 8100 from ebay after 2 moths of waiting.... well my issue is when i turn on the phone right away it comes up with a lock code thing and says i have /10 to get it, but i can not leave from this screen. my question is, is my phone completely locked, therefore i need an unlock code? or does the phone just locked my the guy the i bought it from?
