Does Blackberry messenger work in any country?

My new blackberry messenger won't work? HELP!?

• I've just got a new blackberry 9300 curve and mostly its working fine, though obviously having only just got it on Friday, I'm don't really know how to work it yet. When I go onto blackberry messenger it says its activated and gives me my own pin and everything, but when I have given that pin to friends they aren't coming up as pending or anything. Actually, it won't even recognise them. I've tried doing it in reverse by adding my friends pin, but she got no requests from me. I also tried using the scanner, but it didn't recognise it, and my friends didn't recognise mine. Can anybody help me? I really need to sort this out, or I'm going to have to take it back to the shop. Thanks! x

  first thing is, have you got the £5 blackberry data plan added, you need this to use bbm and all other blackberry services, if you have then remove battery and replace to activate it, if you havent got it call service provider to add it.
