Will Blackberry Messenger work when I go to New York?

  • I live in England, and I am going on holiday to New York next month. I was just wondering whether my Blackberry Messenger will work properly, as it is so annoying getting home and having to delete all the broadcasts! Does anyone know if I will have to pay for BBM or will it work at all? As far as I know the hotel I'm staying at has WiFi, but you have to pay. I just assumed that as New York is such a busy city, BBM would work normally? Thank you for your help!

    You will pay a hell of a lot more for the use of it though. It will work perfectly normal if your phone is activated for roaming. BEWARE though, i used bbm while i was in turkey for 7 days and i came home to a 200 quid phone bill. I didnt even use it that much, just a couple of messages a day. If you hook up to the hotels wifi it shouldnt cost you anything but check with your phone company first!!

I don't have a crackberry as my daughter calls them, but since RIM is only 500 or so miles from NYC, I would expect it too work properly. The question I can't answer is whether your service provider in England will give you full service in North America at an acceptable price. You might want to ask about that. If your hotel charges for WIFI, I can assure you that there will be many free sites in NYC and throughout the state. Service will be sporadic if you are getting into remote Up State.

Yes it will definitely work. You might have to pay for it though, it depends. It will work becuase my cousin is from England and she went to New York and the connection (bbm) still worked perfectly. She did not pay for it. It works. Don't worry. It will work Enjoy your trip :) My cousin did not pay for hers because her dad works with bbm connections, so it was fine for her. But you will pay for it though, but it will still work
