Blackberry 8830: How do I compose and send text messages?

I have a new Blackberry 8830 and need to know how to send text messages. I see the Blackberry Messenger application, but after doing a little googling, it seems this is only for "Blackberry to Blackberry" messaging. If I just want to send a text to a non-Blackberry user, how do I do that? Is that called SMS? Any info is appreciated, I don't really even know the basics.

Answer:
To compose an SMS message you need to go to the Messages folder. Once there. press the BlackBerry menu key (the one with the dots on it), then select Compose SMS. This should then take you to your contacts where you can choose the contact you want. Then you can type your message. Once complete, press the BlackBerry menu key again and select Send.

hit the " bees" button in the envelope and scroll down to the SMS text and it will ask you who to then just type and hit the roller ball and send
