How do you use the Blackberry storm as a wireless modem?

Which unlocked Blackberry Storm (9530 or 9500) to use for Cingular?

  • I have Cingular, and I would like to use a Blackberry Storm. My question is which one should I get that is compatible with Cingular service? I have found several unlocked ones on Ebay and they say they will work with Cingular, but I also read that one works better on the GSM network. So, 1) Which model do I get? 2) Is the Storm indeed compatible with Cingular if unlocked? 3) Once I get the phone, how do I set it up to work?

  • Answer:

http://www.gsmarena.com/blackberry_storm_9500-2534.php This one is the first Storm that came out without the extra WCDMA band. To avoid the risk that is locked to a WCDMA network, makes sure you get this model as this is the FULL GSM/UMTS (for Europe) version of the Storm. 2) Yes, it is compatible albeit it will only work with the GSM frequencies, NOT the 3G/UMTS frequency. 3) In order to fully appreciate a Blackberry, you need a Blackberry data plan which will allow you to set up your emails, your browser, your IM, your Blackberry Messenger and so on. If you need help to set it up once you get it, email me at [email protected] and I can assist you all the way through the initial setup.
