What is a good cheap gps system to use for geocaching?

How can i use a brunton atlas gps for geocaching?

  • i just bought one. i dont know how to use it for geocaching. i have searched and searched for ways to put in coordinates and if it even works for goecaching pleas help

  • Answer:

I tried to research the unit, but it appears to be obsolescent and I haven't been able to spot an online version of the owners manual to check. On the other hand, the specs I've seen say that the unit will store up to 1000 waypoints. That suggests that there should be a way to enter coordinates since a GPS waypoint obviously needs coordinates to work. If you have the manual, look for something pertaining to entering waypoints. This unit received pretty good reviews for its intended camping and hiking purpose but the Brunton website doesn't even list the unit anymore so I'm not sure what its current status might be. Edit: Just spotted something that may help: http://www.easygps.com/gps_receivers/Brunton_Atlas.asp Looks like you can use easygps to communicate with your Brunton and transfer waypoints to it.
