Why is my palm pre offline?

Why cant i use my Palm Centro Battery in My Palm Pre?

  • ok so i have a palm centro 685 with att. i just bought a palm pre with sprint. both phones have the same battery. same size. same shape. fit both phones. work in both phones and both are 1150mAh. but yet people online advise not to use the centro battery in the pre. they say all of this is the same. but theres a mechanical mechonism in the pre battery thats different. and the centro battery will cause the pre to get extremely hot and ruin it. i would like to know what this battery mechanism is. what is the difference and y? is this true? or is it just palm trying to make money off people buying spare pre batterys rather than using there old centro batterys

  • Answer:

A battery is a battery, if the size and connection points are identical for the Centro and Palm Pre while the voltage output are both 3.7v DC, then there should be NO difference. Any one with an electronics background can tell you that. All they do is provide storage at a constant voltage rate while some have higher milliamps per hour than others which allow them to store more power and last longer. A number of Palm Pre owners have already measured the contact points to be identical and have been using Centro batteries without any reported problems for months. Apparently, there are no mechanisms in the batteries which is normal in the electronics industry. Otherwise, the battery would clearly specify how many volts it should produce during certain conditions.
