How do you download desktop manager for blackberry to your computer?

Why cant i download any verson of desktop manager for Blackberry pearl?

  • i cant find any website that lets me. even the main blackberry site. i need to get version 4.2 so i can add music to my phone and it never takes me to the actual download part. filling out a bunch of stuff and never even getting to actually download it. please give me a site that lets me download 4.2 that you know works. also i have a previous desktop manager in right now. the one that came with the phone

    The reason you are getting the message that the file is too big is because you are trying to use the Desktop Manager's Media Manager to copy a song to the BlackBerry's main memory. If you do that the file cannot be larger than 2.86MB. The BlackBerry has a limited amount of main memory (64MB), so it limits the size of the media that can be copied to it. It is recommended that you purchase a microSD memory card and put it in. This will give you up to 2GB of removable storage, and there is not that file size limit for copying music. Also, you won't need to use the Media Manager in order to copy music. Once you have a microSD memory card, and have enabled the Mass Storage support, you can just connect the BlackBerry to a computer and it will show up as a drive letter in Windows Explorer or My Computer.

Go to blackberry.com/support. Where it says support and services look under that to where it says download. Click on blackberry device and desktop software, then click on download blackberry device and desktop software. Download version 4.3 (works best with the pearl). Make sure you uninstall any previous versions before installing. Download the file with media manager. Fill out all your info, click you agree, click on download. Dont click open, click save and make sure to save it to your desktop so you can easily find the file. After instlation, if your still running into the same issue you bb memory may be full. Try upgrading to a bigger sd card or condensing your contacts and stored messages. Hope this helps!

There are other ways to put music on your phone. Buy a micro SD card. Put it in your phone. Plug the phone into a computer. Put any file supported by the phone into the folder labeled "music". Any music file can also be made a ringtone, in the "ringtones" folder.
