Question about blackberry?
-
Okay so i bought an unlocked blackberry curve javelin 8900 off of a cell phone store on ebay. It was brand new in box. I have AT&T and when i got the blackberry the back said tmobile. I had no problem with this because when i put my sim card in it, it worked fine. Well i thought it worked fine. The only thins that work are the basic functions of the phone, texting/mms, and the browser. No other part of the blackberry worked, bbm didn't, app world, bberry mail. docs to go, Facebook app, etc.i realized that i didn't have BIS so i called at&t and they added a BIS plan onto my phone, however when i did that it still does not work, i got the "wrong service plan error" on the Facebook app, and it can never connect to the server on app world, the others just don't work. When i called back they said that because it was a tmobile blackberry originally the "programming is different" so i would need to contact them in order to fix this. I have not yet contacted them because i want to see if there is any other way to fix this, also the "edge" sign on the blackberry is lowercase not uppercase if that needs to be fixed. all suggestions/solution welcome! thanks!

Answer:
There are a few things you can do to solve those issues, maybe you will get it solved by doing only part of them. First - The EDGE/edge - Contact your carrier and ask them to send you thier service books or just download the service books of your carrier and install them on your device (reinstall then oldest service books) this should set the connection correctly with your BIS. If it's not helping you should know that you can download the OS version At&t are using and install it on your unlocked Blackberry (read a guide about wiping and reinstalling OS) Another things you can do is to "Register host routing table" by going into the device options > host routing table, then click the menu button and select "Register now" - i suggest you to start with this because it's the most easy thing to do, if it's not helping then reinstall the OS then contact your carrier and get the service books installed.
