How does the DSI /sd card work?

I know the Dsi has an sd card slot that i can transfer music and pictures on, but could i get minigames from online, put them on the sd card, and then play them on the dsi? Can anyone explain if that will work or something similar? P.S. im NOT talking about the dsi shop

no. at least not yet ... *crosses fingers* all you can do, as you indicate, is download DSiWare to the SD card
