What's the difference between the Palm Treo 700p and the Palm Treo 700w?

    They have different operating systems. The 700p has the traditional palm OS5. The 700w has Windows mobile as its operating system. People who are upgrading from an older Treo or palm often go for the 700p, so most of their favorite applications will be compatible with OS5, it is reportedly a more stable OS for these units as well. Some totally new Palm customers go for the 700w, since Windows Moble OS seems the wave of the future, or at the very least, because Palm is expect to phase out their OS in the near future. While it is a very big difference in software, the hardware is the same between the two.

700w is windows based. So if you have windows on your pc and dont want a big learning curve then I suggest getting the 700w. If you want voice recognition however, the 700w does not have it. 700p is what most people get because you can use third party software. Most of it available through palm.com and there is also voice recognition software you can purchase. 700p works with apple computers as well. Both come with 32mb internal memory so if you need a lot of storage then I would suggest a memory card. If you have a lot of contacts then both will hold at least 1000 contacts. Both have the same hardware inside though
