My company sends email to my Blackberry(Cingular). But I want TMobile dash - how can i make corp email work?
-
My company supports corporate email sent to Blackberry phones. I want to buy a Tmobile Dash. If I get an unlocked Dash, put in my Cingular SIM, how can I also make sure the company is sending emails to my new phone? Will it work? Will it sync with the corporate system? We are a nasdaq company (not a mom and pop) so we would be using whatever industrial strength email solution Blackberry recommends. Asking the internal tech guys to help me won't work because they will say "we only support blackberry phones."

Answer:
Ok, I will give you the answer..... BUT you need to figure out the small details.... so I hope your technical enough!!! Note: To use wireless email synchronization, your Pocket PC must be integrated with an account that uses BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 3.6 or later for Microsoft Exchange or BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 2.2 or later for IBM Lotus Domino. 1. Buy an unlocked Dash. 2. Call this number 800.304.3044 option 1 (Cingular's Blackberry Group) You will need Blackberry Relay Access (Blackberry APN). 3.Have your account provisoned with a Blackberry Connect Plan, tell them you have a new device like a Nokia E62 (This device works with the Blackberry Email Solution) and don't tell them you have a Dash and DON'T give them the IMEI of your DASH, this because they will tell you that your Dash is not Blackberry compatible. 4.Download the Blackberry Connect Guide from this link: http://www.vodafone.de/downloadarea/ppc_user_guide_english.pdf 5.Download the Blackberry Connect Software for Windows Mobile Devices which is the third download option from this link: http://www.vodafone.de/business/support_download/59345.html LOOK FOR "BlackBerry Connect für Pocket PC Version 2.1.2.16 for VPA IV, VPA compact II , VPA compact III" 6.Install this Blackberry Software on your Dash with Microsoft ActiveSync. 7.This software will give your device a PIN and IMEI number just as a regular Blackberry device. 8.Call your IT and have them activate your new PIN and IMEI number with the company's Blackberry Enterprise Server. 9.Enjoy!!! 10.Hope your IT will do this for you. This is a second option: See if your company has Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 with SP2, because if they do, just configure your device with Microsoft Direct Push. Here is how you do this: Prerequisites: Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2. A Microsoft Direct Push data feature. Windows Mobile 5.0 with MSFP. Tap Start and select Programs. Tap ActiveSync. Tap Menu and select Configure Server... NOTE: If no server has been setup, Configure Server will be replaced with Add Server Source. Enter the Server address. NOTE: This information should have been provided by the user's internal IT department. Generally this address is a URL in the following format: "mmis.servername.com" or "101.255.11.12". There should not be any subdirectories attached to the server name, i.e. "mmis.servername.com/folder/mine/" would be incorrect. Checkmark the box This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection. Tap Next when done. Enter the appropriate username, password and domain. Checkmark the box Save Password. Tap Advanced. Make the desired selections for conflicts and event logging. Tap Next. Checkmark the box next to the items desired to sync with the Exchange server. Tap Finish. Attempt to synchronize by tapping Sync. If unable to perform a successful synchronization, troubleshoot accordingly or ask DJ Omar!!!
