Would itunes save the files on the iphone when you restore it?

Can iTunes save iPhone updates on hard drive for later installation?

  • The reason I ask this question is because I have a bricked iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.10. I have tried many times to get it out of that to no avail. I am currently downloading the iOS5 for the update. I have had my iPhone on DFU mode but the download seems to be taking a while. My phone has been in the apple logo for a day and I can't get past that. Once I had it in DFU mode, I plugged it in to iTunes and started the update and restore process. But like I said, the download is taking longer than it should and now my phone is back in the logo screen. There are no apple stores where I live and the carrier I have doesn't do updates which I think is ridiculous. I just want to make sure that the update will be saved on my iTunes so that I can do the update later. PS: I have a Macbook Pro laptop.

  • Answer:

you should save each time you download a new ios, because when a newer one is downloaded the previous one is deleted automatically
