Why won't my Blackberry wi-fi work?

How do I fix my Blackberry's internet connection when it says it's connected to WiFi, but still doesn't work?

  • I got a Blackberry not even a year ago, and I have WiFi in my house. The guy at Future Shop told me as long as I have Wifi I can access the internet - no problem. I'm sure all you Blackberry users out there know that already :P anyway, recently, whenever I go on the internet, it says, "You are currently on a service plan that requires a WiFi connection..." but my laptop works fine with the Wifi, and my phone did use WiFi before...I'm wondering how I can fix this problem so that I can access the internet again with my Blackberry and set up my visual voice mail. Any suggestions and answers will help, I'd like to get this fixed as soon as possible! :)

  • Answer:

To start with... Does your BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) work at all? If so you can use that for your visual voicemail as most apps require a mobile internet connection and not a wifi connection. As for the wifi itself, try resetting your wireless router as most wifi issues are caused by the source and not the device connecting to it. if that fails, try to reboot your phone by pulling the battery to restart it but do it while the phone is turned on. As for last resort, back up your phone via the Blackberry desktop software found here blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/ and then wipe your handheld. If none of that works, you may need to contact your ISP or router manufacturer for assistance.
