What is a good texting app?

Does anyone know what a good app for texting is?

  • I have a mytouch 4g cell phone from t-mobil. I have unlimited texting, but i do not have internet on my phone only wi fi. I need a app that i can use to hide my text messages that does not use internet. I have tried a few apps and there great, but i soon found out that i have been getting charged for internet because they have advertisments. I really need this app so i can have privicy in my phone. My family think its ok to read my text and get into my buisness. So if there is any app i can download that will not use internet please let me know.. Thnaks

    i feel for ya. if you put a passcode or sumthin on your phone and then ask your parents "why do you want to know my business?" you will be sweet. :)

I use GO SMS Pro and theres an option to encrypt certain people so that in order to text or view texts from that person, you'd have to enter a pw. Look for it in the market, it's free. And hold the person's name in the main window to select encrypt. I'm not too sure about the internet usage though. There's no ads, but it does pull update information automatically. And the extra services like GO MMS require internet but you don't need to use. If you want to make sure it doesn't use data, you can disable mobile data usage completely on your phone. For 2.3 its: Open settings -> wireless and network -> mobile networks -> disable "use packet data" And make sure you hide the default messaging app form the app drawer. Go SMS Pro only requires a pw when you use Go SMS Pro. Other messaging apps can still see your texts.
