How do I open a picture mail on Blackberry Pearl?

Load apps for Sprint Blackberry Pearl 8130?

I bought a Sprint Blackberry Pearl 8130 about 2 weeks after it came out. I really like the phone (minus the no picture mail, but that's Sprints fault-losers) but every time I try and install an application (.alx or .ali file) with the desktop manager I get an error that says "No additional applications designed for your device are found." I get this no matter what I do and I know they are good files because if I do OTA downloads directly through my phone it works fine but the DM just isn't working. What's the deal? I have version 4.3.1 on my phone.
