    there isn't any diffrence. its jus the words tht u choose to use,lol. remember PDAs' where the first; cell companies incorporated the pda onto a cellphone; so u had a PDA phone. thanks to the magic on convergance; now u have smartphones'. thts when u intergrate the PDA functionallity plus the voice/data of a cellphone into 1 unit. so now u have the ability to sync ur contact/to do list/ adressbook; plus u can use the data capabilites of the phone side 2 to say search for an address u got in ur PDAs' addressbook, and thn use the GPS on the phone side to get a map, use the data to dwnload the map; u see where the smart comes from.

I would seperate these two. A PDA "personal data assistant" is more like a Palm Tungsten, a HP handheld etc. NO PHONE CABABILITY but a smartphone keyword "phone" has a phone combined with the PDA thats the only reason they call it that. Some people may say they are the same but they are into two different categories.
