Do I have to have a pdA to active sync my contacts, calender from PC to cell phone?

Answer:
no, most phones all you need is a a usb data cable (ebay for 5-10 US dollars) or, if your phone has bluetooth, a usb dongle for your computer. A free program called bitpim- see link- can do it for free. or you can go to best buy and get the commercial program and the cable for $30 for the basic model and $70 for the deluxe model. Bitpim and the ebay usb cable work fine with my parent's sprint katanas.

No you don't. Use Ifrared or bluetooth to beam them across but be depends on the number of contacts and data held on your PC, your phone may have limits. Activesync is just a piece of bullshit software from B.Gates to encourage you to use Outlook.
