How can you lock the screen automatically on the Blackberry Storm?

I have a blackberry storm that is completey unresponsive to anything!!!!!?

  • I got a blackberry storm from a friend. He said it worked but it was locked and he didnt have the code for it so i thought it would be nothin to get it reset. It sat in his car for the last 6 weeks so hr gave it to me. I bought a charger for it and charged it the screen works it has everything it should but the moment i unplug it from the charger the screen shuts off and becomes completely unresponsive to anything me touching the screen pressing the side buttons or even pressig the lock or power button does anyone know how to make it responsive again or work at all i pulled the battery out for different amounts of time but it didnt do anything i would be so greatful if someone could help me

    it sounds like there might be a couple of things going on. 1. wipe the device. if you are able to make it through the home screen, go menu>options>security>general security options>menu>wipe handheld> type "blackberry" and the device will wipe. DO NOT TAKE OUT THE BATTERY!!!! 2.if you are unable to wipe the device through the device, there is a way to wipe it using a windows os computer follow these steps: A. Connect the Blackberry to the computer via USB. Note: DO NOT OPEN Blackberry Desktop Manager. B. In Windows 7, select Start. C. Select All Programs. D. Locate Accessories Folder, and Select Accessories Folder. E. Right Click CMD. F. Select Run as Administrator. G. Enter the following command and press enter: cd\ H. Enter the following command and press enter: cd program files\common files\research in motion\apploader I. Enter the following command and press enter: loader.exe /resettofactory J. The reset process will begin and display a second, empty command prompt. This is normal. Do nothing. Do not disturb the device to allow it to perform the reset. Note: This process can take between 5 and 30 minutes or more. once the wipe has been performed, then you may need to re-load the software to the latest version. you can get the lates software for the storm in 2 places here are the links: http://vzam.net/blackberry/ for this link it is from verizon, select the personal email option ( the other will load the bes redirector, something you dont need), and follow the steps. link2 :http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/devices/ poke around in there for the updated software. if you are still not able to get the device to work properly, have your friend take the device, reactivate it on the acount, go throught the trouble shooting on it, and get a replacement device that he can then give to you
