What is the "Media Manager" on the Blackberry Desktop?

Desktop manager won't recognise my blackberry curve 8520?

  • I've just got a new phone (blackberry bold 9900) and I'd like to use the device switch on desktop manager to get all my saved messages over etc. For a little while I haven't been able to get desktop manager to connect to my blackberry 8520, it says no device is connected, even though I have got it in mass storage mode, and my computer can see it... I can get onto all my media files, add music and stuff, but not using desktop manager. I thought it could have been because I did drop my phone down the toilet last July, but I checked when my last back up file was and it was October, and my phone has worked fine since then. So that can't be it really... I can remember it all went wrong around the time I updated my desktop manager, but I have downgraded it to version 5 (my 8520 has version 5 on it) and it still won't work :( I've tried different usb ports, also different usb connector things... the 9900 will work with desktop manager, with the new usb connector, but not the 8520 :( Anyone got any ideas?

  • Answer:

Uninstall the desktop manager software and re install it same with your phone, try rebooting it by holding down alt, aA (bottom right before sym) and delete. Once that is done connect your phone again using your usb lead. Good Luck
