How does Nand memory affect the nokia N8?

How does nand memory affect the nokia n8? My friend and me are debating over which phone is the best deal. We understand every spec except for the nand memory. The nokia n900 has 768 mb of nand memory however the nokia n8 has 512 mb of nand memory. Thats all it says about that on the nokia specs page for each phone. Both phones have the same ram of 256 mb. Now my qeustion is, I heard that the nokia n900 has 768 mb of "virtual memory". But on the nokia website, this is quoted as 768 mb of nand memory. it doesn't say anything of swap space or anything like this. So I am wondering, does Nand memory mean the same as virtual memory? Will the 512 mb of nand memory for the nokia n8 also be swapspace as in the 768 mb on the n900?

Answer:
nand memory is merely a technical name for MMC (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MultiMediaCard#eMMC ) most of the N900's (and the N8's, for that matter) "memory" is in fact a plain dumb eMBEDED MMC of which the N900 has 32GB and the N8 (so far) 16GB. on the N900 768MB of those 32'000'000'000 bytes are dedicated to swap, 2GB as "home" and the rest (some 28GB...) is available under /home/user/MyDocs. considering that the N8 has half the size of eMMC (and Symbian is somewhat better optimized then Maemo and gives the user less latitude to explode the device...) the N8 comes w/ only 512MB of swap. again, considering that Symbian^3 is better optimized then Maemo et cetera et cetera et cetera, the 256MB of fast memory (MMC Plus?) on which the kernel is mounted and which is also used as working memory (!) is relatively "larger" but the N900 offers more options, for example to use eMMC as root instead of the 256MB, thus giving up to 30GB of space to the OS (the various data partitions (/home and /home/user/MyDocs are usually mountpoints but if the whole space is used as one file system, they can simply be subdirectories, too)
