If I format my psp memory stick, what will happen?
-
My psp memory stick seems to have been infected by a virus. When I transfer a file from my pc to my psp, it almost always gets corrupted. Like in a game, it displays "This file is corrupted" before the game even starts. the memory stick is the problem I'm sure because when I tried transferring another memory stick in my psp, the file was perfectly running with no problems. So I need to reformat my memory stick. It's in system settings and I was wondering If I should do it or to a proffesional. Also, what will happen if it gets formatted? What will happen to the updates and all? Will only the games, musi, videos be erased? How about that hidden virus file in my psp? Will that be erased too? If it also resets the update to its default then I shouldn't update it at all. Please help.

Answer:
It will delete music, pictures, game data, and internet history, nothing more that I am aware of. The updates will stay the same, maybe the update file will be lost but it will still be updated. If there is a virus, I would imagine it will get rid of it that's if it's even a possibility of it having a virus.

Format leaves nothing (game saves, music files, etc). You say its going slow when transferring? What data cable are you using? Try a different usb cord and see. I used a cheap usb cord and wouldnt transfer files, became always corrupt and froze. Changed data cables and the transfers are back to speed.

you can't get a virus on your psp it's impossible. formatting it will just erase the info and you can start over but that's probably not your problem. you are probably trying to download from the wrong websites that are full of corrupted files. go with a site you can trust.

Nothing should be erased. Don't go to a professional because once you hit the button the PSP just moves the files around so you can view them on your PSP. All you do is hit a button and you'll end up paying a professional for hitting a button which is stupid.
