Blackberry pearl.. USB problem..how do I get my computer to recognize the phone through USB?

Hi! thanks for looking hopefully you can help! So I have a blackberry pearl and I was wondering how i get my computer to read it when its all hooked up to the USB port.. It said something about not installing the USB deliverer or something? Is there an application online?? I got a CD with it but its just a user guide with tools and it the computer wont open any files. I have a macbook by the way. thank you!

yeah i am not sure about macs. go to the website or go to like handango.com. ive heard that they are compaitble but you might have to buy additional softwear for it.
