Can you use wifi on a phone that is not activated?

Do you have to have a Verizon phone activated in order to use wifi?

  • My dad has an old windows smart phone that he never uses that is capable of wifi. He actually gave me his old blackberry, but I feel the price of plans are absolutely atrocious! Not to mention pretty much everywhere I'll be spending a lot of time where I'm free to use electronics have wifi access. So why should I have to pay a crapload of money for internet that is readily available for free? Anyway, my question is, before I suggest to my dad in giving him his old blackberry back(he uses a storm currently and gave me his old 8830) and asking for his Samsung i-730 in exchange, would I be able to use the wifi feature without having it activated? Thank you in advance for your polite responses! :)

  • Answer:

Yes you can use it without being activated. Obviously, you will not be able to call or text at all..
