How do I change welcome message?

On the blackberry curve, how do you change the sound it makes for when you get a text message?

  • when you get a text message it makes a quick sound (of your choice) to notify you that you have gotten a text message. I just got a blackberry curve today and to not like the sound it makes.....its very obnoxious! so how do u change it? i know how u change the ringtone but the the sound for text messages. HELP!!

    go to profiles. this is where you can customize your tones.

go to the application "profiles" from there scroll down to "advanced" & select it. then scroll to a profile you wish to edit. click the "menu" key. select "edit" from the menu that comes up. scroll to "sms text" & select it. scroll to "tune" & select it. a list of tunes should come up. select the one you wish. press the "menu" key & select "save" you can do this or after selecting "advanced" from the profile menu slect the "menu" key. scroll up to "new profile" name the profile & follow the rest of the steps i have already written. hope this helps & makes sense.
