Can I charge my BlackBerry Curve while it's on?

My NEW blackberry curve wont hold a charge?

• i JUST got a brand new blackberry curve 8310 yesterday. I had to charge it to make it work so i charged it up to about 70 percent and started using it. I set it up and just had it in my pocket for a couple hours. I never even used it. i took it out to text someone and it just randomly shut off and it didn't say low battery. I took the battery out quite a few times and tried again and the screen and LED light would flash once and thats it. So then I plugged it in and it said low battery so i just figured i didnt charge it enough in the beginning. I charged it alll night long then when i woke up it was only at 90%. i took it to work and it was in my pocket all day i still hadnt even used it and within 2 hours of it being off the charger it died again. and right before it died the battery was at 70 percent i checked it right before. then it starts all over i plug it in and it says low battery and has to charge again. so i dont understand what the problem is its brand new i've had a blackberry pearl before and it was great with charging. someone PLEASSSE help me

  may be the charging slot is not working properly .. or the battery problem sounds much to me .. dont worry its in company warranty they ll change if u havin the bill .. thanks bye tc
