If you can't switch it, then just unscrew the faceplate off of the PSP, and see if you can fix it from there.

you should be able to go to an electronics store the get the psp repaired. another choice it to send it into Playstation to get it fixed if it is still under warranty. i had one fixed and they paid for shipping to and from the repair center. it was nice. =) no out of pocket costs.
