Can a BlackBerry play videos?

Is the new Blackberry 8520 able to play Youtube videos via wifi?

  • I do a lot of video browsing on Youtube and was wondering if the "Budget Blackberry" can view videos on Youtube? I do not have the device, but I'm considering getting one. Please let me know only if you have tested this and are certain that it can play these videos! Thanks in advance.

All of the latest BlackBerry devices, including the 8520, can play YouTube. The videos launch via the media player, so when you are in the browser and you click "play", you get a media player that pops up instead (full screen). You need a data plan to have this work, even on Wi-Fi. You can't do this with a voice-only plan on your own Wi-Fi connection. You need to be able to connect to the BlackBerry service, which requires a plan. T-Mobile USA is the cheapest plan out there for this, in the USA.
