Can touching the DS touch screen with your finger ruin its calibration?

Well, my old DS's touch screen ended up with horrible calibration and now that I got a 3DS, I was wondering if touching it with my finger could ruin its calibration just like my old DS?

I use my finger with my DS all the time and the calibration's just fine. I've had it for years..
