Answer:
HMM personal experience --up close and really personal---ANYTHING IS BETTER THEN THE IPHONE...I LOVED MY BLACKBERRY IN COMPARISON WITH THE IPHONE. HOWEVER NOW IM INTO THE HTC TOUCH PRO 2.. U say u like touch screen-- get the HTC touch pro 2---big touch screen, windws media player, can be used to connect ot ur computer, if ur .....at starbucks lets say...and access all ur folders, musoc, etc... OUT OF THE TWO I WOULD 100% GO WITH BLACKBERRY 8900 HERE ARE A FEW THINGS THAT MADE ME MAD ABOUT THE IPHONE: the fact that u dont have an actual keyboard. i love texting, and i also do real estate on the side thus i always need my emails, and my texts. texting on the iphone was the biggest turn off for me. im on the go most of my day, and without an actual keboard, i need to stop everything im doing and put in 100% of my attention into texting. lucky i have small fingers still the experience was horid. another issue is the fact that the iphone( made by apple--duh) will NOT let u do anthing or change anything on the phone... u cant change the home screen etc. also af far as ringtones go, the only ringtones that will work on ur phone are the ones that u buy at the itunes. if u want to tranfer ur favorite ringones from ur old phone to an iphone, u wont be able to apply them as ringtones( unless u are a tech savy like myself--and spend hours trying to overwrite eveything) the blackberry (made by RIM) lets u do everything! from free custom themes( crackberry.com) to free ringtones( zedge.net) and everything in between.

I own an iPhone 3gs and a bold 9700....let me first say that I've seen an answer that was completely inaccurate. Firstly, the Bold 9700 can do EVERYTHING the iPhone can do. That is one of the most common misconceptions. I'll start with the most glaring differences between the two. The browser on the iPhone is AMAZING. It owns any other mobile browser, I mean it's AMAZING. The bold 9700 however has phenomenal battery life. The iPhone has notoriously bad battery life, specifically for moderate to heavy users like myself. I tend to do alot of browsing and can rarely make it to the end of the day. Alot of people say that the iPhone had more features and is more "fun", but you can't enjoy those games, apps, Internet because the battery dies so quickly when playing games or actively using it. The email on the bold 9700 is great and the best in the business and I personally enjoy it's physical keyboard, which is the best also. While the iPhone has more apps, the bold 9700 has many apps as well. The bold also has a great blogging/support/news website (for all blackberry users): crackberry.com I've been using the 3gs for a couple of weeks now and have yet to find a similar site as extensive as the one for blackberry users. Another thing the blackberry has over the iPhone is transferring files from your computer (like word documents and other files). Also consider that the bold has a removable battery, any battery issue you may have with your new iphone will have to be handled externally. I'm typing this answer on my iPhone now, and the 3gs is definitely a great phone. Looks cooler, the touch screen is amazing and responsive, but I'm currently considering switching back to my bold 9700 because of the battery life. I suspect that most people would be fine with the iPhone 3gs battery but with me being kind of a heavy user, it doesn't last the entire day. However, the Bold will wihout a doubt last the entire day, whatever you're doing. In fact, you'll easily be able to go 2 days, maybe a little more. Ok, so I absolutely love my iPhone 3gs, but I'm thinking that apple has more work to do on it's battery for me personally. Also, I forgot to mention that the 3gs is getting the update to the new OS 4, which will include all sorts of new features (which will release sometime this summer). The Bold 9700 is rumored to receive a similar update (blackberry os 6), which supposedly features a revamped browser that could let it stack more equally to the iPhone in terms of browsing experience. The blackberry os 6 is supposedly being released this summer as well, after the iPhone OS release. So both are great phones, but if I had to say one, I would say the iPhone 3gs. Apple constantly releases new versions as you know, so your new 3gs with the new OS will only be up to date for about a year. But the iPhone 3gs is too much of a powerhouse, in functionality and multimedia. I think the bold 9700 could have a slight edge but the iPhones look and mobile browser cause me to pick the 3gs. Honestly, you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. It just depends on which is your preference. I would watch several reviews and unboxings of each and also play with both in an AT&T store. Good luck my friend.
Lots of people use Blackberry's because they need to text alot. Either way they're both good.

The blackberry bold, like all blackberrys are designed for buisness. You can manage files, contacts, notes, events, things like that on there. It surfs the internet. And as an added bonus, it has a touch screen. However it has little apps, you have to pay for internet service, and it doesnt have an mp3 player. I could go on for days, but overall the iPhone trumps the Blackberry

The iPhone may be 'cooler' and possibly more fun, depending on what you want to do with it. But personally I would suggest any Blackberry over the iPhone. It is more stable, more durable, easier to text or email on, and will do email a whole lot better. You can get up to 10 email accounts on a blackberry and your messages show up within seconds! So if you email a lot and want to keep your work/personal/ebay/whatever email accounts separate, blackberry is definitelyy the way to go. You can also message any blackberry user anywhere in the world an no extra charge over your normal plan, so if you have friends or relatives overseas you want to text/picture message, that might be a big plus.
